Phong Nha - Ke Bang (The World Heritage)
(Mã số: 951)
Phong Nha - Ke Bang has been selected as the attractive tourism destination of the Northern Central of Vietnam. Being 50 km of Dong Hoi Town (Quang Binh Province), Phong Nha Cave is a range of wonders, deeply lying in the bowels of the mountain, to be 800-900 meters of the mountain’s top. It is 7,729 meters long, included 14 caves, created by the underground river with length of 13,969 meters. Visiting Phong Nha, tourists can hear strange sound of winds passing through mountain gorges, admiring stalactites falling down as tens of thousands of huge tooth. Therefore, the old name “Troc Cave” was changed into Phong Nha of which Phong means wind, and Nha means teeth.

On 2nd July 2003, the 27th Conference of the World Heritage Committee (belonging to UNESCO) held in Paris to recognize Phong Nha - Ke Bang as the World Heritage. Mr. Howard Limbert, head of Explorers Association of United Kingdom, confirmed: “Phong Nha is one of the most beautiful two caves in the world with 7 best characteristics. They are the longest cave, the highest, and widest cave’s entrance, the largest, and the most beautiful stone, and sand bank, the nicest underground lake, the most magnificent, and miraculous stalactites, the longest underground river, and the nicest, and largest dry cave.”
To widely introduce this World Heritage, on 1st June 2006, the Ministry of Post and Telematics (MPT) issues the stampset “Phong Nha - Ke Bang - The World Heritage” consisting of 3 values and 1 block with some selected pictures of Phong Nha Cave, and Ke Bang Primitive Forest printed on.
