The song was the Italian entry in the 1958 Eurovision Song Contest and one of the greatest hits ever to come out of the contest. After winning the 1958 Sanremo festival in Italy, Nel blu di pinto di blu was chosen to represent Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest in the same year. Although it placed third, it still is one of the most popular songs of the contest having achieved 94 recorded versions in various languages, global chart success, a Grammy Award and immense popularity among people of all ages worldwide until today. In the 50th anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest, held in 2005 in Copenhagen, it was voted the second favourite entry in the history of the contest after Abba's Waterloo. The exact release date of the stamp will be announced in the first week of January and the face of the stamp will be known ten days prior to the release.

The popular singer was killed in a car crash earlier this year. The stamp was officially presented at a ceremony in the singer's native town of Krusevo, in the presence of his parents, relatives and a great number of fans. The head of FYR Macedonian Post, Sadul Iziri, said that "in feeling with the pain of your parents and the whole nation, we are dedicating a stamp to you that will travel the world, so that you can become eternal." A Tose Proeski Foundation has been initiated with the building of a statue and a museum in Krusevo, where a traditional music manifestation will be held in his honour. Tos Proeski was killed in a car crash on a Croatian motorway on 16th October this year. He was extremely popular in all of the former Yugoslav nations, and represented his country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 in Istanbul.

The theme for this year's two EUROPA stamps is "Integration, from the point of view of children and the young". The two stamps featuring children's drawings are the result of a competition for pupils at painting schools across the country. The stamps tell of how children can create friendships across the boundaries of cultures; all you need to do is give friendship a chance. Successful integration in the school The Danish schools and educational system play a key role in the integration of children and young people of non-Danish ethnic backgrounds. It is vital that the children get off to a good start. If children grow up in families who lack knowledge of the Danish school system, they may need special support to develop the necessary social and cultural skills. This may for example take the form of language teaching, which makes it easier for the children to relate socially to other children. Successful integration often requires that the children's parents are familiar with the school's work and activities. Accordingly, many schools make efforts to involve minority culture parents in the co-operation between the school and the home. Some schools have so-called parent days, inviting parents to see what goes on in the course of a normal school day. For parents, these initiatives help them to feel more confident in their co-operation with the school, and better able to support the school's activities, while for the children, the initiatives are important in the long run, particularly in relation to their future educational and employment prospects. Integration via sports and association activities In Denmark, there are a wide range of organisations which perform sterling work to promote the integration of children and young people, such as sporting organisations, children's and youth organisations and humanitarian organisations. By participating in local sporting and leisure time activities, children and young people can develop their social skills. From the point of view of integration, it is important that newly-arrived children and young people take part in the existing association activities, and thereby come into contact with other children and young people. The Ministry of Refugee, Immigration and Integration Affairs, in co-operation with the National Olympic Committee and Sports Confederation of Denmark (DIF), Danish Gymnastics and Sports Associations (DGI), and the Danish Youth Council, has established a trial scheme aimed at getting more children and young people of non-Danish ethnic backgrounds to participate in local sports and recreational activities. Personal contact between people is a key point, if integration is to succeed. In the context of both school and leisure activities, children have an opportunity to form friendships with each other across the boundaries of cultures. Genuine friendship can help break down prejudices, and at the same time create the mutual understanding and respect that is the basis for integration.

For the political institutions of the European Union, the integration of migrants aims at giving best possible voice to an increasing plurality of interests and ways of life and a growing ethnic, cultural and religious variety. The rapid increase in migrant pressure from eastern Europe after the fall of the Iron Curtain and the eastern expansion of the EU is obliging the countries of Europe to adopt a common migration and integration policy. The social integration of young people is not something that happens automatically. Pluralist societies that offer a wide variety of possible lifestyles make high demands of the way the individual finds his or her identity. It is precisely young people with experience of migration who find social integration difficult, as they find their way between the family traditions and so-called western lifestyles. They are more affected by exclusion and are the first to feel the social rupture lines that include inherited poverty and the risk of poverty, gender, migration or a political system of hostility to participation. Specific examples can be found in the school system, where the inadequate encouragement of education, in particular in the field of language, diminishes the opportunities even further. In the world of work, legal requirements such as work permits or nationality, as well as a lack of apprenticeships and jobs lead to unemployment or displacement into badly paid and often illegal work. Where one hundred years ago the struggle was against the economic exploitation of children and young people, it is the problem of youth unemployment that weighs heavily on our society today. Work as the means of earning a living has declined considerably as one of the central and familiar forces for integration. "I hate work because I can't get any!" is a cry of despair against the structural barriers such as the qualifications needed to enter the world of work that exclude above all young people with a migrant background. This even applies to second-generation children (children born in Austria of foreign parents). Around 300,000 children in Austria are either of foreign nationality or have only recently been naturalised. And this figure will increase even more over the next few years.

Since 1978, the theme of these stamps has been the Madonna and Child, and these holiday stamps have attracted a devoted following over the years. The 2007 Christmas stamp features an oil-on-panel entitled The Madonna of the Carnation by Milanese painter Bernardino Luini. Dating to around 1515, the painting is now part of the Samuel H. Kress Collection at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. The stamp art is considered a "detail" of the painting, since the original photograph was slightly cropped on all four sides to fit the stamp format. Issue date: 25 October 2007

Hong Kong is no exception. At Christmas time the city is lit up by glittering decorations, with sweet carols floating in the air. To bring tidings of comfort and joy, Hongkong Post issued its first set of Christmas Stamps in 2002. The innovative design of its second set features a perfect fusion of elements from Western tradition and local culture. The four stamps in this issue blend traditional Christmas icons with local elements to inspire a feeling of affinity: a stocking in red-white-and-blue nylon canvas ($1.40), an egg tart in the form of a smiling Gingerbread Man ($2.40), a bell-shaped sparkling neon light ($3) and a jolly Snowman dressed in a cotton-padded Chinese vest ($5). The mice are known to the Finnish public from works including the poetry book Kuono kohti tahtea, the illustrator of which, Marjo Nygard-Niemisto, won the 2005 Finlandia Junior prize. Two miniature sheets will be issued at the same time as the Christmas stamps. The Memories of Finland miniature sheet celebrates outstanding years of Finnish independence. The sheet includes eight stamps showing the lives of Finns, using real pictures from Finnish home photo albums. The other miniature sheet is a joint issue with the postal operator of Hong Kong. It is comprised of two stamps, one of which shows modern Finnish crafts and the other ancient craftwork from China.

This highly decorative set has been produced entirely as a self-adhesive stamp issue (and in sheets of 20 stamps) in response to popular public demand. The stamps also ulitise silver litho and advanced varnish printing techniques. It is the first time that the IOM Post Office has produced a 'self-adhesive-only' issue, making the First Day Cover in particular highly collectable. Local artist Julia Ashby Smyth, who was commissioned to produce this year's Christmas stamps, describes her working process: "Using the carol Hark the Herald Angels Sing as the theme, I wanted to create a serene gentle flowing quality and included the lute, harp and trumpet to give a musical lilt. Just as I was starting these illustrations, I went to see the falconry display at the Wildlife Park, where I had the opportunity to get up close and personal with the hawks and falcons. I managed to get loads of photos of wings which were extremely useful." Date of Issue: 19th October 2007

This time Austria Post has chosen the Christkindl Pilgrimage Church in wintry mood as recorded by the hobby painter in his sketchbook – a mood that is ideal for the Christmas period. The Baroque facade of this church has already been the motif for a stamp, the ATS 2.- definitive from 1958, and was also the background for the 1995 Christmas stamp. The Pilgrimage Church "Zum Christkind unterm Himmel" (of the Christchild under the Skies) owes its name firstly to the village to which the church originally belonged, and secondly to the legend of the origin of the church. The land on which the Christkindl Pilgrimage Church was built and around which the village of the same name gradually developed, is close to the village of Unterhimmel, mentioned in documents as "Unnderm Himl" (Under the Skies) as early as 1577.

The issue dates are 24 January, 7 March, 9 May, 23 August and 2 November. A four-stamp miniature sheet will be issued for the Eurovision Song Contest which will be held in Finland next May. One of the stamps is by Mr Lordi, Tomi Putaansuu himself. Stamps will also be issued to commemorate anniversaries of Mikael Agricola, the Central Organisation of Finnish Trade Unions, the Football Association of Finland, the Finnish Olympic Committee, and Tampere Cathedral. The miniature sheet issued in honour of Finland's 90th year of independence features photos taken by Finns themselves during the nine decades of self-determination. New stamp designers making their debut this year are ceramic artist Helja Liukko-Sundstrom, interior designer Markku Kosonen, and graphic designer Marjo Nygard-Niemisto. Next year, for the first time, Finland's Easter stamps will have the authentic feel of ceramics and the Christmas stamp will have the aroma of gingerbread.

The stamp is designed by the Finnish artist Paivi Mansikka-aho. It shows a family returning home by horse and sleigh from the early Christmas service at the church of Finstrom. The church was also a stamp motif in 1989. The sky on the stamp is covered with glittering hologram stars. The denomination is 'Christmas Postage 06', and this is the first Aland stamp of this denomination. 'Christmas Postage 06' implies that the stamp may be used as postage for Christmas greetings within Aland and to Finland and Sweden (equivalent to ˆ0.50) during a limited period in November and December.
