Designer Elisabeth Bjorkbom interprets the theme "hearts" in a wonderful booklet with ten stamps and four motifs. Why not give these delightful stamps to someone you care about on Valentine's Day?
Valentine's Day is celebrated on February 14 all over the world. For many, Valentine's Day is a day when we can spoil our nearest and dearest with presents and flowers, or show that we care by sending a romantic greeting card. It is estimated that almost one billion Valentine cards are mailed every year across the world, which makes it the second largest card-sending holiday after Christmas. The majority of the cards are sent in USA, Canada, Mexico, France, Australia and England, where the Valentine's Day celebration is taken very seriously.
There are a number of theories why we celebrate Valentine's Day. The most common is the story of a priest called Valentius, who lived in Italy around 200 AD. According to legend, he secretly married couples that had fallen in love, since Emperor Claudius had forbidden young people to marry. Valentius was discovered and thrown into prison, but it is said that the day before he died he wrote a letter to the prison guard's daughter, with whom he had fallen in love. This letter was signed "Your Valentine”.
