
Origin of the stampset
Sir. Truong Chinh, whose real name was Dang Xuan Khu, was born on February 9th, 1907 in Hanh Thien Village, Xuan Truong District, Nam Dinh Province. In 1927, he joined the revolutionary youth organization, which was the forerunner of Indochina's Communist Party.
In 1982, during the 5th Congress of the Communist Party, he was appointed to the central executive committee and was a member of the Politburo. In July, 1986, during the special Conference of the Party Central Committee, he was elected General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Because of his great devotion to the national liberation cause as well as the build up and defense of the country, he was awarded a Gold Star Medal and many other noble medals by the Government and National Assembly.
On February 9th, 2007, Ministry of Posts & Telematics (MPT) issues the stampset: “Birth centenary of Truong Chinh (09/02/1907 - 30/9/1988)”, 01 value of 800d (3419).
The stamp features a portrait of the late General Secretary of Vietnam Communist Party, Truong Chinh, highlighting the character of a resolved and clear-sighted Party leader as well as the spirit of an indomitable Vietnamese communist.
